Pope, Sytsma headline Men’s Soccer all-conference honorees

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Sophomore defender Jacob
Pope and junior midfielder Kyle Sytsma headline a group of nine
Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer players who earned
All-Northern Athletics Conference recognition, the league office
announced Wednesday afternoon.
The honors for Pope
(Muskego, Wis.) and Sytsma (Antioch, Ill.) are the second-straight
year they were named NAC First Team All-Conference. The two helped
CUW finish the 2011 campaign with a 13-6-1 overall record and a
9-1-1 league record. It was the 18th consecutive year under head
coach Tom Saleska's direction the Falcons have earned double-digit
wins.
Senior defender Jacob Streicher
(West Allis, Wis.) was named to the second team, his first
postseason conference accolade. Junior defender Jason Rogers
(Glendale, Wis.), senior defender Bryan Samuel (Brookfield, Wis.)
and senior midfielder Victor Mendoza (Mt. Prospect, Ill.) were also
named to the NAC Honorable Mention team.
Freshmen forward Patrick Birder
(Green Bay, Wis.) and forward Zach Fohr (Plymouth, Wis.) were named
to the All-Freshman Team. Concluding the Falcons representation on
the NAC postseason list is senior defender Jordan Bielfeldt
(Lemont, Ill.) who was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
CUW's season ended in the semifinals of the NAC
Tournament with a 2-0 loss to MSOE. The Falcons finished the season
first in shots (227) and second in goals scored (31) and assists
(31) during league play.
