Men's Soccer drops 2-1 OT thriller at Dominican

Box Score: DU 2, CUW 1 (OT)

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Host Dominican University, 10-0-0 in conference action, bested Concordia University Wisconsin, 8-1-1, via an overtime score to secure the outright Northern Athletics Conference Championship for the sixth straight season Saturday afternoon.

The Stars scored what appeared to be the game-winner just five minutes into the second half, but head coach Tom Saleska's Falcons pressured the Dominican goal down the stretch and pounded through the equalizer with just over two minutes remaining in regulation.

Sophomore Jacob Pope (Muskego, Wis.) finished a pass from senior Jacob Streicher (West Allis, Wis.) to bring temporary jubilation to the CUW sideline.

The overtime play was even with each team having one realistic scoring opportunity, but the Stars' Ryan Ybarra converted the golden goal at 98:05.

Game stats were also a tossup with DU holding a 12-9 shot advantage. The opposing goalies combined to make only five saves.

DU improved to 15-2-0 overall while the Falcons fell to 12-5-1. CUW has one conference game remaining and needs a win or tie against third place MSOE to secure second place and the number two seed in the NAC Tournament.
