DANSVILLE, Ky. – The CUW field hockey team closed the season on Friday in the Southern Athletic Association Field Hockey Tournament Quarterfinals. The Pioneers of Transylvania took a 1-0 victory to end the Falcons' season.
The Pioneers struck early with a goal in the sixth minute off a penalty corner with their only shot on goal on Friday.
The Falcons pressured the Transylvania cage all day long and held a 12-3 advantage in shots on Friday.
The Blue and White had six shots on goal in the quarterfinals, including three in the second quarter, but could not convert.
CUW also held an 8-3 advantage in corners on Friday.
Transylvania advances to the SAA Tournament Semifinals and will take on the regular-season champion Lynx of Rhodes.
The Falcons finish the season with a 6-10 record.
