Falcons Celebrated Senior Day on Sunday

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW field hockey team closed the 2022 regular season on Sunday afternoon against the Lynx of Rhodes in a non-conference matchup. The Lynx improved to 13-2 on the year and sent CUW to 6-9 with the 1-0 victory.

The Falcons threatened early with shots from senior Olivia Riemer (Ballwin, Mo.) and junior Renee Lund (Vista, Calif.) in the first quarter.

The Lynx held a 7-0 advantage in shots in the second quarter and scored the lone goal of the contest in the 29th minute.

Senior Lorri Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) and freshman Ella Maltby (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) both recorded a shot in the third quarter, but the Lynx defense kept the Falcons off the score sheet on Sunday.

Senior Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) finished Sunday with nine saves.

The Falcons honored the senior class of AnnaLyssia Abela (Dearborn, Mich.), Emily Binley, Alex Klamm (Glen Carbon, Ill.), Donna Pitock (Naperville, Ill.), Lorri Pitock and Olivia Riemer on Sunday morning.

The Blue and White open postseason play on Friday at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament at Centre. The Falcons will face Transylvania in the quarterfinal round on Friday. The game time and bracket have not been released. If the Falcons win, they will take on Rhodes.
