Field Hockey Tames the Tigers

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team took care of business once again on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons improved to 6-6 on the season with a 3-2 victory at DePauw.

The Tigers bit the Falcons early on Thursday with a goal in the second minute of the game.

The Falcons tied the game in the 29th minute when senior Lorri Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) blasted a shot through a pack of Tigers into the cage.

The Blue and White took the lead when Lorri Pitock stole the ball and fed junior Berit Poirier (Vista, Calif.) and Poirier snuck the ball in between the goalies' legs.

CUW added to the lead in the third quarter on a penalty corner. Freshman Ella Maltby (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) was waiting at the far post and knocked in a shot from Lorri Pitock for her first collegiate goal as a Falcon.

The Tigers cut into the lead with a goal in the fourth quarter, but the CUW defense stood tall to secure the victory. The Black and Gold forced five penalty corners in the fourth quarter on Thursday.

Senior Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) came into the contest as the reigning SAA Defensive Player of the Week and collected five saves in her sixth victory of the season.

The Tigers held a 15-4 advantage in shots on Thursday. Senior AnnaLyssia Abela (Dearborn, Mich.) had the fourth shot for the birds.
