Football sweeps NACC weekly awards
WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin swept the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Weekly awards for the events of Oct. 14-20, as voted on by the league athletic communicators. Austin Damaschke, David Gonzalez and Taylor Witty all earned the league accolade.
Damaschke (Bristol, Wis.) totaled 433 yards in the 48-42 shootout against Concordia University Chicago on Saturday. The junior quarterback threw for 380 yards and one touchdown, while adding 53 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Gonzalez (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals and 6-for-6 on extra points for the Falcons (4-2, 2-0 NACC). The junior kicker totaled 12 points, while connecting on field goals of 37 and 24 yards.
Witty (Milwaukee, Wis.) recorded nine tackles in CUW's victory to stay atop the NACC standings. The senior defensive lineman made several plays in the backfield, recording two sacks and finishing with 2.5 tackles for a loss. He also forced a fumble in the 2nd quarter.
The conference honor is the first of the season and third of Damaschke's career, while it is the first of the season and career for Gonzalez and Witty.
It was just the third time in NACC history a school has swept the weekly awards.
