MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin recognized four athletic programs for their achievements on the playing field over the past year in its new Albrecht Student Union with a formal Dinner of Champions event, which was highlighted by guest speaker Mark Tauscher.

The event, hosted by President Rev. Dr. Patrick T. Ferry and his wife Dr. Tammy Ferry, gave Falcon student-athletes and teams a night to reflect on their hard work, dedication and commitment to being the best in their respective sport.

It was a special night as former University of Wisconsin Badger and former Green Bay Packers Super Bowl champion Mark Tauscher talked about thanking those who have helped along the way to make him successful.

He began his speech with telling those to thank those who have helped me you successful.

"Have I made sure they know what a big impact they have made in my life? I urge everyone when they get home to give someone a call, someone who has been important in your life and helped get you to where you are, and make that phone call."

Tauscher's strongest message was to think about the pain of sacrifice versus the pain of regret.

"You can have the pain of sacrifice or you can have the pain of regret. Think about every time you are making sacrifices because you are putting deposits into your bank account. You want to be able to make withdrawals when you want. Continue to make good life decisions, but always remember the hard road is the right road. Taking the easy way never pays off."

Along with Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill and President Ferry, the overwhelming theme of the evening was 'nothing is given to you, everything is earned'. While winning conference titles appear easy at times, winning more than one is never a given.

Recognized at the event were Men's Tennis (2012-13 NAC regular and tournament titles), Football (2013 NACC undefeated title), Women's Golf (2013 NACC title) and Wrestling (2013-14 NWA title).
