Downs and Lafferty Earn CSC Academic All-American Honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its Academic All-America Teams for Women's Soccer on Tuesday afternoon. For the first time in school history, CUW landed two individuals on a CSC Academic All-America Team. Jordan Lafferty and Isabel Downs were both voted to the CSC Academic All-American Second Team.

"This is an amazing and well-deserved honor for these outstanding individuals," said head coach Ryan Middendorf. "They are truly models of how a student-athlete can dedicate themselves to both passions of academics and athletics. I could not be prouder to have them both be a part of our soccer program."

The 2022 Academic All-America® Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

A senior from Surprise, Arizona, Jordan Lafferty is claiming the honor for the first time after earning CSC Academic All-District honors for the past two seasons. Lafferty boasts a 4.00 grade-point average in computer science. She scored 17 points on five goals and seven assists. She also landed two game-winning goals.

A senior from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Isabel Downs is making her first appearance on the CSC Academic All-American Team. Downs had a 3.95 grade-point average in her undergraduate studies and has a 4.00 in graduate school. Downs finished the season with 17 goals and eight assists, and a team-high five game-winning goals.

The women's soccer duo joins Jordan Johnson (2021 & 2022) of men's basketball, Justin Totsky (2018) of men's soccer, Kelsey Bollon (2021 & 2022) of softball and Emily Hafemann (2021) of women's basketball as the only CSC Academic All-Americans in the school's history.
