Falcons Blank the Black and Blue

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Falcons had another successful business trip up at Marian on Wednesday night with a 2-0 victory over the Sabres. The victory gives the Falcons three valuable points in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) with 19 points at 6-1-1 and a 10-2-2 overall record.

The Falcons struck early with a goal in the 14th minute when senior Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) headed in a corner from senior Jordan Lafferty (Surprise, Ariz.).

The CUW defense did not allow the Sabres to get a shot on sophomore Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) in the first half.

The Blue and White struck again on another corner kick from Jordan Lafferty in the 53rd minute. Senior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) tapped in a ball that pinballed off Karoline Haugland on a corner from Jordan Lafferty.

Brooke Braga collected three saves in her ninth shutout of the season. Her nine shutouts rank second in NCAA Division III, only trailing Kalex Dodge of Calvin University with 13.

The birds held a 26-3 advantage in shots on Wednesday night. Karoline Haugland led the match with seven shots and five shots on goal.

The Falcons host first-place Dominican on Saturday on senior day.
