Falcons Dissolve Dominican in NACC Semifinals

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The CUW women's soccer program is returning to the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Soccer Tournament Finals. The Falcons knocked out the NACC champion Stars of Dominican with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon. The Blue and White improve to 16-3-2 on the season.

The Stars struck first on Tuesday when they took advantage of a CUW turnover and scored in the seventh minute.

The Falcons leveled the match in the 22nd minute when senior Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) headed the ball to senior Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) and she lobbed the ball over Ashley Ishman's head.

The two teams went into halftime tied at one.

The Stars held a majority of the possession to start the second half, but the Falcons quickly flipped the script.

In the 58th minute, senior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) gathered a rebound off a shot from Selena Esten and blasted the ball into the back of the net.

Two minutes later, Isabel Downs struck again when she curved the ball into the net off a pass from Karoline Haugland.

The CUW defense continued to lock down the net and sophomore Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) collected two saves after the Falcons took the lead to preserve the victory. She finished the day with seven saves.

The Stars held a 15-12 advantage in shots on Tuesday.

Selena Esten finished with a match-high four shots.

The Falcons will travel to Illinois Tech on Saturday for the NACC Tournament Finals.
