Falcons Celebrate Senior Night Against Benedictine

MEQUON, Wis. – The women's basketball team celebrated senior night on Saturday in a matchup with Benedictine.

The Eagles hopped out to a quick lead with a 9-4 lead halfway through the first quarter.  

The Falcons went on a 7-5 run to end the quarter trailing 11-14. Junior Lindsey Smitsdorff (Coon Rapids, Minn.), freshman Lindsey Lonigro (Deerfield, Wis.), and freshman Abigail Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) combined for the seven to end the quarter.

The Falcons tied the game at 17 early in the second quarter after four points from Hafemann and a made layup from junior Reagan Obry (Neenah, Wis.).

The Falcons were able to take their first lead at 21 with a layup from sophomore Erin Viergutz (Clintonville, Wis.).

Back and forth baskets brought the score to 27-25 in favor of the Eagles to end the half.

The Eagles hopped out to another lead to begin the third quarter with a pair of layups to give them a 34-27 lead.

The Eagles drug out their lead into the end of the quarter with a score of 46-33 going into the final frame.

Lindsey Smitsdorff got the fourth quarter rolling with a pair of free throws in the first minute.

After a steal from Lonigro, Smitsdorff knocked down a jumper to bring the Falcons back within 11 at 39-50. 

The Eagles finished off the game on an 18-14 run to finish off the game and take the 68-53 victory.

Smitsdorff led the Falcon scoring 15 points. She added 11 rebounds and two blocks to notch another double-double.

Hafemann led the bench scoring seven points.

The Falcons turn their attention toward Dominican on Tuesday to cap off the home portion of their regular season.
