Green Knights Get Away on Tuesday Night

MEQUON, Wis. – The Green Knights of St. Norbert topped the Falcons in a battle of second-place teams on Tuesday night. The Falcons fall to 7-5 on the year and 6-2 in NACC play with the 64-69 loss.

The two teams found themselves in a tight battle on Tuesday night. The Green Knights hit a three-point basket right before the clock expired in the first quarter to take a 13-10 lead.

The Falcons stayed close throughout the second quarter and a layup from junior Reagan Obry (Neenah, Wis.) tied the game at 24. The Green Knights hit another three-point basket before halftime to take a 27-24 lead into the break.

Freshman Paige Zirbel (De Pere, Wis.) drained a three-point basket to give the Falcons a 40-39 lead with 2:26 left in the third quarter. St. Norbert closed the quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 46-40 heading into the fourth quarter.

A free throw from sophomore Deidre Lassiter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) snapped a 9-0 run for the Green Knights. St. Norbert ballooned its lead up to nine points at 50-41. The Falcons knocked the deficit to four points on two occasions.

The Falcons defense stiffened up and caused turnovers throughout the final two minutes to claw into the Green and Yellow's lead. A three-point basket from Obry cut the score to 67-64 with 15 seconds left.

The Green Knights made a pair of free throws to secure the victory.

All eight Falcons scored on Tuesday night.

Reagan Obry led the flock with 16 points. Deidre Lassiter finished with 13 points and senior Camryn Szolyga (Waukesha, Wis.) had 12 points.

Junior Lindsey Smitsdorff (Coon Rapids, Minn.) was a point shy of a double-double performance with 14 rebounds and nine points.

Camryn Szolyga and freshman Lindsey Lonigro (Deerfield, Wis.) both finished with five assists. Reagan Obry landed a game-high three steals.

The Falcons return to play on Saturday at home against Aurora.
