Falcons Slice Through the Scarlet Hawks

CHICAGO – The CUW women's basketball team returned to action again on Saturday afternoon at Illinois Tech for a NACC road test. The Falcons soared to a 77-32 victory to improve to 7-4 on the year and 6-1 in NACC play.

The Falcons never trailed on Saturday afternoon. The Blue and White started the game with a pair of layups from senior Camryn Szolyga (Waukesha, Wis.). The Falcons closed the first quarter with another layup from Szolyga to lead 15-6 after 10 minutes.

The CUW offense exploded for 23 points in the second quarter. Freshman Lindsey Lonigro (Deerfield, Wis.) led the flock with six points in the quarter on a pair of three-point baskets.

CUW held a 38-11 lead at halftime against the Scarlet Hawks.

The Blue and White dropped 21 points in the third quarter against Illinois Tech. Junior Reagan Obry (Neenah, Wis.) scored 11 of the 21 points in the quarter. She also led all players with three rebounds and two assists in the quarter.

Concordia outscored the Scarlet Hawks in all four quarters on Saturday, holding an 18-14 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Four of the eight Falcons reached double-digit points on Saturday. Camryn Szolyga and Sophomore Deidre Lassiter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the effort with 15 points. Lassiter recorded her first collegiate double-double performance with 11 rebounds.

Senior Aubrey Buchholtz (Seymour, Wis.) and Reagan Obry both finished with 13 points. They both also finished with a game-high five assists and team-high two steals.

The 32 points are the fewest that the Concordia defense has allowed during the season.

The Falcons return to action on Tuesday against St. Norbert.
