ROCKFORD, Ill. – The CUW women's basketball team took on the Rockford Regents for their first of two road matchups.
The Falcons started hot with back-to-back baskets from sophomore Deidre Lassiter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and sophomore Lindsey Smitsdorff (Coon Rapids, Minn.).
The Falcons went into the second quarter with a 17-11 lead.
The Regents slowed down the Falcon offense allowing only eight points in the second quarter for a halftime score of 25-24 in favor of the Falcons.
The Flock rallied and scored 26 points in the second half with 17 points in the fourth quarter. They outscored the Regents 17-9 in the fourth quarter.
The Falcons were led by Smitsdorff and junior Kathryn Kirkwood (Milwaukee, Wis.) in total points with 13. Smitsdorff added 11 rebounds and six blocks while Kirkwood pulled in nine rebounds with two assists.
Senior Aubrey Buchholtz (Seymour, Wis.) added seven points off the bench with seven rebounds.
The Falcons head to MSOE on Tuesday to take on the Raiders at 7:00.
