Haaf earns NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin junior David Haaf has been named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week for the events of February 15-21, the league office announced Tuesday.

Haaf (Medicine Hat, Alberta) had two goals in a 2-2 tie at Northland on Saturday, which was enough to help the Falcons into the playoffs. CUW needed an equal or better result than Lake Forest on Saturday, and earned that with a tie, and a Lake Forest loss later in the day.

Haaf was also on the ice for Friday's game-winning goal by freshman Taylor Gauld (Whitby, Ontario). Gauld struck 1:17 into overtime for a 6-5 win over the Lumberjacks.

Haaf and the Falcons are back in action tonight for a Harris Cup Playoffs tilt at Marian. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
