Offense turns up as Men's Hockey rolls in win over UW-Stout

MEQUON, Wis. – For the first four games since returning from a month long break the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team struggled putting the puck in the back of the net. The Falcons totaled just five goals in those four games, resulting in a 0-3-1 record. Friday night CUW found its offense once again, lighting the lamp six times in a 6-1 win non-conference win over UW-Stout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling behind 1-0 7:59 into play, the Falcons rattled off six unanswered goals, two in each period, for the win. What was more impressive was the fact that six different players scored for the Falcons, the most in any game this season.

- Each first period goal, the one for the Blue Devils and two for CUW, came on the power play. Freshman Eric Therrien (Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan) netted his first goal of the season for the Falcons, coming 11:22 into the opening period to tie the score at 1-1. Freshmen Stefen Seel (Invermere, British Columbia) and senior Eli Riddle (Blissfield, Mich.) assisted on the score. Sophomore Braden Crone (Metiskow, Alberta) then gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead with 33 seconds remaining in the stanza with freshman Nick Erb (London Ontario) and senior Buster Hebda assisting on the play.

- Freshman Adam Fauchoux and sophomore Anthony Pickering (Sylvan Lake, Alberta) scored the two second period goals for the Falcons. Fauchoux's came 10:09 into the period and was assisted by Hebda (Firestone, Colo.) and senior Trammell Lynes (Edmonton, Alberta). Lynes and Fauchoux (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan) helped on the Pickering goal, which was scored with 4:43 remaining in the second.

- Freshman Taylor Gauld (Whitby, Ontario) helped put the game away in the third with a goal and an assist. His score came 4:16 into the frame and was assisted by Riddle and Fauchoux, while he helped lead a shorthanded goal from Jon Brumwell 13:08 into the period as well. Brumwell's (Calgary, Alberta) score was also assisted by sophomore Jared Pilet (Seattle, Wash.).

- Freshman Jack Romanuik (Melfort, Saskatchewan) picked up his fifth win of the season with a 25-save effort. Romanuik stopped the final 18 shots he faced over the final two periods.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The win for the Falcons was just the second in program history over a school from the WIAC. CUW also defeated then-No. 8 UW-Eau Claire earlier this season by a 2-1 score. The Falcons, who were 0-6 against the Blue Devils prior to Friday night, avenged an earlier season loss to UW-Stout, a 5-2 score on November 21.

- The six goals ties a single-game high for the season as the Falcons also poured six in on Aurora back on December 4. The six different players to score was a season best for the Falcons.

- Brumwell's shorthanded goal in the third period was the first shorthanded goal of the season for the Falcons.

- CUW has a difficult test awaiting them next weekend as it returns to NCHA play with a home-and-home series against No. 1 St. Norbert. The Falcons will host the Green Knights on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
