Men's Hockey drops Senior Day showdown with St. Scholastica

MEQUON, Wis. – Despite the final result on the scoreboard, it was a day of celebration for the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team. The Falcons were honoring four seniors – Lennie Childs, Buster Hebda, Trammell Lynes, and Eli Riddle, who played their final home game at the Ozaukee Ice Center. CUW fell to No. 13 St. Scholastica, 5-1, in the contest.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: No. 13 St. Scholastica 5, Concordia Wisconsin 1
- Location: Ozaukee Ice Center – Mequon, Wis.
- Records: St. Scholastica 14-5-2, 12-4-0 NCHA; Concordia Wisconsin 10-9-2, 6-8-2 NCHA

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The difference in the game was the special teams as St. Scholastica finished the afternoon 3-for-5 on the power play, while the Falcons were scoreless on eight attempts with the man advantage.

- The Saints scored twice in the first period and three times in the second, while the Falcons goal came early in the second stanza, which made the score 2-1 at the time.

- Freshman Nick Erb (London, Ontario) had the lone goal of the game for CUW, while freshman Adam Fauchoux (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan) assisted on the play. The goal came 5:50 into the second period.

- Keegan Bruce had a big day for the Saints, playing a hand in every goal. He finished the contest with one goal and assisted on the other four scores for St. Scholastica.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The day was all about the senior class, who has guided CUW to its four winningest seasons in program history. The Falcons have 35 wins over the past four seasons, including a program-best 10 this season, as well as in 2013-14.

- Hebda, Lynes, Childs and Riddle certainly made a mark on the ice over their careers, but also off the ice as well. Each play is active in the community, as well as serving as model student-athletes over the past four seasons.

- The players were joined by friends and family during the first intermission as a celebration of their careers.

- In addition to the four players, senior manager Nick Schramm, along with senior assistant coaches, Kevin Michelcavage and Jordan Thomas, were honored on Saturday. Michelcavage and Thomas both previously played for the Falcons before suffering injuries their sophomore seasons, which ended their collegiate careers.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will travel to take on top-ranked Adrian next weekend for a two-game NCHA set. CUW and Adrian will start the series with a 7:05 p.m. (eastern) start on Friday night.
