Women’s Tennis Hands MSOE its First NACC Loss
MEQUON, Wis. – A little change in plans did not slow down the Falcons on Saturday morning. The Falcons cruised to a 9-0 victory against MSOE to hand the Raiders their first NACC loss of the year. The match was originally scheduled to be played at MSOE, but morning rain moved the match to CUW.
Senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and sophomore Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) swept the Raiders away at No. 1 doubles, 8-0 to start the day.
The duo of freshman Cheyanne Phillips (Morris, Ill.) and senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) ripped the Raiders on court two, 8-2.
Sophomore Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) and senior Elizabeth Johnson (Hubertus, Wis.) secured the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory.
Mallory Moen brought out the brooms at No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Brenna Sheehan.
Ashley Samuta sank Karley way at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Ricki Budewitz blazed over Cameron Larson at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Cheyanne Phillips made quick work of Yuti Modi at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Mia Andrae overwhelmed Michaela Haensgen at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Elizabeth Johnson closed the book on MSOE with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Sabrinal Blommel at No. 6 singles.
The Falcons will host a key match on Friday against Edgewood for a battle for the NACC title.
