Youthful Falcons fall in NACC Tournament Championship to Edgewood

MADISON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin's season came to an end on Saturday night in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship match after falling 5-0 to top-seeded Edgewood College. The second-seeded Falcons advanced to the title match after defeating Aurora University, 5-0, earlier in the day at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

CUW used its talents to cruise past Aurora in a semifinal match behind a trio of impressive doubles victories, before freshman Hannah Tresedder (Kingsford, Mich.) and junior Ashley Knoll (Wilmot, Wis.) sealed the deal with 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 wins, respectively, in singles play.

The Falcons played in their second-straight NACC Tournament Championship match against Edgewood and the result was the same, a 5-0 defeat. The Eagles have won seven-straight NACC regular season titles and earned their third-consecutive NACC Tournament Championship and fourth in the last five year with the victory.

Throughout the course of the season, CUW played seven underclassmen compared to tjust wo veterans. The leader on the roster this season in terms of victories was sophomore Jessica Sapp (Memphis, Mich.) who finished 13-8 overall in singles play, while sophomore Michaela Wagner (Oswego, Ill.) and senior Emily McCormick (Waukesha, Wis.) combined for a 12-8 overall record in doubles play.

McCormick ends her four-year career with 32 victories during singles play and 37 in doubles competition. She ranks fourth all-time in program history for singles wins and third in doubles wins.
