Women's Tennis nets sixth straight win in NACC matchup against Alverno

MILWAUKEE – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Tennis team remained unbeaten in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play with an 8-1 victory over Alverno. The Falcons win was their sixth straight, all of those matches coming in conference play.

CUW gained a sweep at doubles to begin the NACC matchup and took five of six in singles play. All five of the singles wins came in straight sets as the Falcons have been very strong early in on the NACC season.

In doubles play the No. 1 team of sophomore Elizabeth Carroll (Hartford, Wis.) and freshman Sabine Jacobsen (Palatine, Ill.) gained an 8-3 win. Carroll and Jacobsen both finished 2-0 on the day, as Carroll won her match at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2, while Jacobsen followed suit at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Senior Emily McCormick (Waukesha, Wis.) also had a 2-0 day for the Falcons, winning at both No. 3 doubles and No. 3 singles. McCormick won 6-4, 6-4 in singles, while partnering with sophomore Michaela Wagner (Oswego, Ill.) for an 8-4 win in doubles play.

The No. 2 doubles team comprised of freshmen Hannah Tresedder (Kingsford, Mich.) and Anna Shanks (Kingsford, Mich.) completed the doubles sweep for the Falcons with an 8-2 win.

Also contributing to the CUW win on Tuesday was a pair of sophomores in Jessica Sapp (Memphis, Mich.) and Alisia Macioch (South St. Paul, Minn.). Sapp netted a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles, while Macioch earned a 6-0, 7-5 victory in the No. 6 singles position.

CUW (6-1, 6-0 NACC) will compete in the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championship this weekend before returning to conference play next week. The event this weekend is hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College and is scheduled for Friday through Sunday.
