Palmreuter lands First Team honors to lead Women's Soccer NACC Awards

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Senior Faith Palmreuter was named First Team All-NACC for the second straight season as she was one of four Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer players honored with the league announcing its 2016 awards Thursday. Seniors Brittany Klumpp and Halie Schieffer landed Second Team honors, while rookie Jordan Lohse was named to the All-Freshmen Team.

Palmreuter (Frankenmuth, Mich.) proved her worth as one of the top defensive players in the conference again this season. The 2015 NACC Defensive Player of the Year helped the Falcons allow 1.51 goals per game while facing one of the more difficult schedules in the Midwest. The Falcons also gave up just 13 goals in 10 NACC games this season. Palmreuter added two assists in 2016.

Klumpp (Rubicon, Wis.) concluded her impressive career by being recognized by the league for the fourth time. She ends her time with the Falcons as a two-time First Team All-NACC selection (2012, 2014) and a two-time Second Team selection (2013,2016). Klumpp tallied six goals this season, four of those coming in conference play. She finished her career with 51 scores.

Schieffer (Belgium, Wis.) had a strong final season and was recognized by the league for a second team. She was also an All-Freshmen choice in 2013. The senior midfielder scored three goals and added one assist for a seven-point campaign. All seven of her points came in conference play, including two game-winning goals.

Lohse (Sheboygan, Wis.) was named to the All-Freshmen Team after appearing in 14 games for the Falcons while making three starts. She rotated between the midfield and defense for the Falcons, proving to be a strong defensive option for her team.

CUW finished the 2016 season with a 5-4-1 NACC record but just missed out on the six-team league tournament. League champion MSOE had a strong showing in the NACC Awards, receiving three of the four major awards. Sara Travia was named Offensive Player of the Year, Shelby Namen was the Defensive Player of the Year and the Raiders Head Coach Rolf Zersen was honored as Coach of the Year.
