Klumpp joins 50 goal club, Women's Soccer closes season strong

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Senior Brittany Klumpp became the fourth Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer player since 2003 to net 50 career goals, highlighting a strong season-ending 4-1 win for the Falcons over Lakeland Friday. All the scoring was done in the opening half, including the final two from Klumpp, her 50th, and 51st career goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons actually fell behind 1-0 as Lakeland struck first in the 14th minute. Rachel Hasko netted the goal for the Muskies, on one of just five shots from Lakeland for the afternoon.
- CUW dominated the rest of the first half, scoring four times before the break. The first of those came from sophomore Nicole Ciesielczyk (Waukesha, Wis.), her third of the season.
- Senior Abigail Freeland (Grafton, Wis.) netted the game-winning score, her fourth goal of the season. Her game-winning score came in the 34th minute.
- Klumpp joined the 50 goal club in the 42nd minute and struck her 51st career goal just 30 seconds later, helping CUW go into the half with a comfortable three-goal lead.
- Junior Tabitha Ortiz (Plainfield, Ill.) picked up the win and was one of three goalies to play for the Falcons Friday. Ortiz made two saves before making way for sophomore Hannah Arrigoni (Rice Lake, Wis.). Arrigoni played 20:41 at goalkeeper before sophomore Laura Snyder (Green Bay, Wis.) came on for the final 6:45.
BEYOND THE BOX
- Klumpp is the fourth play during the Ryan Middendorf era (2003-present) to reach 50 goals in a Falcons uniform. She joins Lauren Straehler (58), Carley Pfannerstill (57) and Becky Ott (51) as members of the 50 goal club.
- Klumpp twice recorded 18 or more scores in a season. She netted 19 in her freshman season (2012) and 18 during her junior season (2014). Klumpp missed most of last year due to injury and received a medical redshirt.
- The match was the final one of the season for both teams. CUW missed out on the NACC Tournament for the first time, finishing just outside the top six in the conference.
