Pfannerstill named NSCAA First Team All-Region, three Falcons honored

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time in school history, the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer Team had three players named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's Soccer All-Central Region Team. The association released its All-Region selections Wednesday, and the Falcons were well-represented after another successful season on the pitch.

Junior Carley Pfannerstill (Grafton, Wis.) was named to the First Team All-Region. She became the Falcons first ever NSCAA First Team All-Region selection. She had another tremendous season, recording 38 points, scoring 15 goals and adding eight assists. Pfannerstill also reached 100 career points in the Falcons season-finale and played a big role in her team reaching the NACC Finals.

The junior was selected to the Third Team All-Region a season ago, joining an elite list of players who have received multiple selections for the Falcons. One of those players was senior Ashley Apazeller (Jackson, Wis.), who secured who third selection with Third Team honors this season. Lauren Straehler (2011 – Second Team, 2012- Third Team) also earned two All-Region selections.

Junior Brittany Klumpp (Rubicon, Wis.) was named Second Team All-Region after leading the team in goals (18) and points (40). Klumpp was tough on her opponents this season, recording six multi-goal games, including her second career hat trick back on September 10 against North Park University.

Apazeller was back to her impressive ways after missing the 2013 season. She picked up right where she left off, earning All-Region honors for the third time in program history, becoming the first Falcon to do so. Apazeller earned Second Team honors in 2012 and was a Third Team selection in 2011. She once again proved to be one of the top defenders in both the NACC and the region.

The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference was well-represented in earning 10 selections, including four on the First Team. NACC Champion Aurora University led the way with four selections, three of those joining Pfannerstill on the First Team. Edgewood College had two players named to All-Region squads, while MSOE added one.

Pfannerstill, Klumpp and Apazeller helped lead the Falcons to a 14-6-0 season, which was good for a second-place finish in the NACC regular season standings, as well as a runner-up in the conference tournament.
