NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Millikin University and the Griswold Center will host the 2020 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestling Championship on Thursday beginning at 2 p.m.
This will be the 64th CCIW Wrestling Championship dating back to the event's inception in 1957 as Augustana has won the most conference titles with 37, the last in 2014.
North Central enters the competition as the two-time defending champion as the Cardinals have won eight conference titles in program history (1962, 1978, 1997, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2018, 2019). The last two titles have come under the direction of head coach Joe Norton, who is in his sixth season at the helm of the program.
Pre-Championship Poll: North Central was predicted to win the 2020 CCIW Wrestling Championship based upon the results of the championship coaches' poll announced on November 21, 2019. Voting was done by the CCIW's head wrestling coaches. Each coach votes for the seven other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their own teams.

Association Membership: This will be the fourth year that Concordia-Wisconsin, Milwaukee School of Engineering and Lakeland will take part in the CCIW Championship as associate members for wrestling. The 2017 event featured the most teams competing since a nine-team conference championship in 1985.
National Rankings: North Central was ranked 14th in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Dual Meet Rankings on February 10. Additionally, four CCIW wrestlers placed in the individual rankings announced on February 10. The Cardinals' Robbie Precin was ranked third at 125 pounds, while Millikin's Bradan Birt was fifth at 165 pounds, North Central's Cody Baldridge was fifth at 184 pounds, and teammate Ben Bergen placed 10th at 197 pounds.
