Wrestling Concludes Wheaton Action

WHEATON, Ill. – The Concordia wrestling team wrapped up its time at the Pete Willson Invitational in Wheaton, Illinois, on Saturday, ending the two-day event with nine Falcons victories amongst the 32-team field.

Senior Peyton Smith (Milwaukee, Wis.) was Concordia's lone participant in Saturday's action, securing an eighth-place finish in the tournament after going 4-1 the day prior. Smith totaled 12 points for the Falcons across his matches, contributing to the team total of 22. The tally secured a 25th-place finish for Concordia.

On Friday, seniors Carson Cook (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Jonathan Pullen (Joliet, Ill.) collected two wins apiece, accounting for seven total team points. Each wrestler picked up a technical fall, while Cook earned his second victory by decision and Pullen notched a major decision.

Fellow senior Cam Mercer (Glenview, Ill.) accounted for the remainder of Concordia's team points, earning a second-period fall in his opening bout.

The Falcons will be back on the mat on Thursday, February 1 in a home dual against the MSOE Raiders.
