Wrestling coaches receive WWCA awards

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin's Wrestling coaches were recently recognized by the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association during a clinic and Hall of Fame banquet on November 1-2.

Koch, now in his third season, was named the WWCA District 8 Coach of the Year for his efforts guiding the Falcons during the 2018-19 season. He also serves as the District 8 representative for collegiate coaches.

"It's an honor to receive this award," Koch said. "It is an individual award, but it's more about the team than anything else. We put in a lot of hard work to build the program and make each student-athlete stronger on and off the mat. I'd also like to congratulate Bret on his award and everything he does for CUW and in helping me with recruiting and the day-to-day administrative task."

Corner, now an assistant coach after starting the CUW Wrestling program and leading it for 20 years, was awarded the 30-year coach award, which includes 24 at the collegiate level and six at the prep level. He also received the WWCA Executive Board Service Award.
