Padilla named CCIW Wrestler of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Concordia Wisconsin's Marco Padilla was selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Padilla, a sophomore from Elmwood Park, Illinois, won the 125-pound weight class at the MSOE Invitational on Saturday, finishing 4-0 to improve to 10-6 on the season. He defeated UW-Oshkosh's Denis Murphy 10-9 in the championship, as Padilla claimed his first-ever collegiate title. He started the day with a 5-1 decision over UW-Oshkosh's Luc Valdez, followed by an 8-4 decision over Wheaton's Anthony Zamora. Padilla then defeated North Central's Chase Poston by a 5-3 decision in the semifinals.
