Jess Pozezinski Picks Up CSC Academic All-American Honors

MEQUON, Wis. – Jess Pozezinski secured another prestigious honor on Tuesday morning. Pozezinski was voted to the 2024 CSC Softball Academic All-American Second Team, announced by the College Sports Communicators.

"Alongside all of the hours of hard work, sweat and tears that myself and all other student-athletes put into their sport, most of the time, the hours put into our academics are overlooked," said Jess Pozezinski. "Knowing that all degrees are challenging in their own ways, being a nursing student as well as an athlete seemed impossible to me at some points. This award just makes all those times of doubt worth it. It proves to myself that I am smart and able, and it proves to others that nothing is impossible. No words can describe how appreciative I am for all of those off the field that led me to this award. I would not be the student-athlete I am without professors, classmates, study buddies, and all those on the CUW softball team."

A junior from Lake Villa, Illinois, Jess Pozezinski claimed the honor with one of the best 2024 campaigns on the diamond and a 3.92 grade point average.

Last month, she was also voted as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Second Team selection.

The nursing major also brought in NFCA All-Region First Team honors. In the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, she was voted as the NACC Position Player of the Year to go with her All-Conference First Team honors.

Nationally, she ranked third in home runs per game at 0.41, sixth in home runs with 15, fifth in slugging percentage at 0.929, 10th in total bases with 118 and 23rd in batting average at 0.480.

The sensational shortstop finished the season with 61 hits, 45 runs, 42 runs batted in, 15 walks, 15 home runs, 12 doubles and a stolen base.

Pozezinski is the second Concordia Wisconsin softball player to be named a CSC Academic All-American. She joins Kelsey Bollon who claimed the honor in 2021 and 2022. Bollon was a second-team selection in 2021 and a first-team selection in 2022.

She is the 11th Falcon to claim Academic All-America honors from CSC joining Ricki Budewitz (women's tennis), Landon Sather (men's tennis),  Jordan Johnson (men's basketball), Emily Hafemann (women's basketball), Evan Lischka (football) Justin Totsky (men's soccer), Andy Ellingham (men's volleyball), Kelsey Bollon (softball), Isabel Downs (women's soccer) and Jordan Lafferty (women's soccer).

The 2024 Academic All-American® Softball Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
