Steve Crook Voted Coach of the Year Presented by Andy and Jenni Locke

MEQUON, Wis. - The CUW Coach of the Year Award is an annual award, established in 2024, to recognize and honor coaches who have had an exceptional year. The award was initiated by Andrew (CUW '89 & '97) & Jennifer (CUW '92 & '97) Locke and funded through the Andrew & Jennifer Locke Restricted Fund for CUW Athletics.

The award includes a plaque for the coach and their name is added to a plaque in the main lobby, a gift to the program, and a cash gift for the recipient.

Steve Crook of the Concordia Wisconsin softball team was voted as the CUW Coach of the Year.

Coach Crook once again guided the Falcons to another successful campaign and had the Falcons in the fight for another Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) title.

The Falcons finished the season with a 25-12 record and earned a spot in the NACC Tournament.

Under coach Crook, the Falcons earned some major honors in 2024. Junior Jess Pozezinski earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Second Team honors, NFCA All-Region First Team honors, and the NACC Position Player of the Year title. Junior Megan Bloyer also earned NFCA All-Region honors. The quartet of Jess Pozezinski, Megan Bloyer, senior Sydney Erdmann and junior Jasmine Freeze were all named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

In order to be considered for this award, a coach must be nominated by a peer for their commitment to Falcon Athletics, leadership, season's performance, and representation of Falcon Athletics within the community. The coach's career can also be considered. Nominations come from any member of the Athletic Department and are used to select the recipient. Nominees would be requested by the Athletic Director starting in March each year. Supporting information will be anonymously gathered from players, coaches, faculty, and staff. The award is presented in a timely manner and allows for Spring sports to be properly considered. Nominations are not limited to head coaches.

This week, we will continue to announce our major award winners for the 2023-24 school year.
