Men's Hockey suffers first setback of season against No. 5/6 Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. – In a game that saw 94 total penalty minutes, including 60 of those during one segment, the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team was unable to keep up with No. 5 Adrian College, falling 7-0.

After playing the Bulldogs tight through one period, the Falcons fell victim to a pair of three-goal periods by AC over the final two stanzas. Josh Ranalli finished the game with a hat trick in leading the highly-ranked Bulldogs.

Kevin Balas put AC in the lead 5:11 into the game, scoring the only goal of the opening 20 minutes. Adrian then built a 3-0 lead midway through the second stanza when Ranalli scored his first and second goals of the evening.

The 15:34 mark of the second period was when the game appeared to get out of control as 60 penalty minutes were issued between the teams, including a pair of game misconducts. CUW struggled to respond after that moment, as Adrian added four more goals for the 7-0 victory.

James Hamby made 24 saves for Adrian in picking up the shutout, while sophomore Jake Hebda (Firestone, Colo.) took the loss for the Falcons. Sophomore Domingo Torrenueva (Oshawa, Ontario) also got in some action between the pipes for the Falcons.

CUW will look to rebound tomorrow when they take on the Bulldogs again. Puck between the two teams is set to drop at 2 p.m.
