Kittel sets career scoring record
AURORA, Ill. – It really was only a matter of time before Eric Kittel became Concordia Wisconsin's all-time leading scorer. The guard is one of the most dynamic players to ever put on a Falcons uniform and his ability to score in a multitude of ways is what helped him become the record holder.
The senior is a team-first player and it has never been about him, even when asked to try and set the record in front of a home Falcons crowd during a NACC Tournament quarterfinals game on Wednesday. After two failed 3-point attempts he was frustrated at the idea of the light being shined on him.
Entering Friday night's NACC Tournament semifinal game at second-seeded Aurora the Brillion, Wis., native needed just three points to surpass Frank Yinko's mark of 1,490 career points. He was fouled after a 3-point attempt from the right wing with 9:17 to play before halftime. As Kittel had done hundreds of times previously in his career, he calmly knocked down the three free throw attempts to break the record.
Concordia Wisconsin's point guard, who started every game of his career, ended the 90-86 victory with a team-high-tying 22 points. He enters Sunday with a chance to claim the team's second NACC Tournament Championship in three years.
Below are a few notes on his record-setting 1,510 career points:
