Men's Basketball NACC winning streak snapped

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin had an opportunity to send the game into overtime, but a 3-point attempt was off the mark and its seven-game NACC winning streak was snapped by Wisconsin Lutheran in an 84-81 decision on Wednesday night.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The name of the game down the stretch was free throw shooting and timeouts, as both teams displayed strategy with Concordia Wisconsin trying to overcome a deficit and Wisconsin Lutheran trying to secure a needed victory.
- The Warriors received a timely block from Tyler De Young with 28 seconds to play, which kept a three-point cushion and began a string of free throw shooting. Wisconsin Lutheran would make 5-of-6 from then on at the charity stripe to help itself.
- Jake Jurss nailed a deep, step-back 3-pointer with three seconds to play and following 1-of-2 free throws made by the Warriors' Collin Kennedy it gave the Falcons 1.6 seconds, the length of the court and a 3-point make to force overtime. Concordia Wisconsin had its chance at the end, but the game-tying long ball was off the mark.
- Most of the statistics in the box score were even, expect a large discrepancy in free throws made and attempted. The Falcons were 7-of-11 in the game (0-of-0 in the first half), while the Warriors were 22-of-30 at the line. Concordia Wisconsin also had a 44-20 advantage in points in the paint.
- Jurss (sophomore, Sheboygan, Wis.) led the Falcons with 24 points, including five 3-pointers, to go along with seven rebounds and five assists. Sophomore Josh Hau (Slinger, Wis.) added 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
- Senior Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) ended with 14 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and three steals; while sophomore Andrew Fratzke (Winona, Minn.) posted 18 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The loss makes it difficult on the Falcons' chances of securing the second seed and a first-round bye in the NACC Tournament because of an Aurora victory.
- The double-double for Fratzke was his seventh of the season.
- Concordia Wisconsin made 10 3-pointers and it was the ninth time this season with double-figure long balls made.

THE OPPOSITION
- Tanner Schieve led all players with 26 points (8-of-12 free throws) to go along with eight assists and four rebounds. Collin Kennedy added a double-double (24 points, 12 rebounds), while also stealing three passes.
- Chase Nowak tallied 16 points, five assists and four rebounds. Tyler De Young finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons host Aurora on Saturday at 4:15 pm in the second half of a NACC doubleheader.
