Falcons torch nets in first half, defeat Concordia Chicago

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin drained 10 3-pointers in the opening half en route to a commanding 97-76 home NACC victory over Concordia Chicago on Saturday afternoon inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENEND
- A barrage of long ball makes from Erick Kittel, Jake Jurss and Julien Addison helped the Falcons build a comfortable 21 point lead in the opening half. It was Kittel and Addison who each had three 3-pointers during a five-minute stretch that turned a four-point lead into a 19-point advantage with eight minutes to go before halftime.
- Jurss tallied a pair of triples in the final minutes before the intermission and drained three 3-pointers within two minutes to push Concordia Wisconsin in front by 28 points with still 14:19 to play in the game.
- The Cougars tried to get back in the game front outside the arc, by launching 36 3-pointers in the game but only connecting on 12 attempts. Concordia Chicago turned the ball over just nine times in the loss, but only shot 31.3 percent (25-of-80).
- Kittel (senior, Brillion, Wis.) led all players with 23 points (five 3-pointers), to go along with seven rebounds and a career-high-tying eight assists.
- Jurss (sophomore, Sheboygan, Wis.) finished with 21 points (five 3-pointers), career-best 11 rebounds and five assists. It was his first career double-double.
- Sophomore Andrew Fratzke (Winona, Minn.) added 11 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Julie Addison (Milwaukee, Wis.) had a breakout game with 12 points (three 3-pointers), four rebounds and six assists.
- Senior Montrell Hobbs (Milwaukee, Wis.) was a force around the rim with four blocks, while also scoring six points and grabbing five rebounds. Freshman Dane Fronek (Wausau, Wis.) grabbed eight rebounds in eight minutes off the bench.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kittel moves into first place in program history for games started (85) and is now atop the record book (NCAA era) for most 3-pointers make (198). The program's all-time leader for 3-pointers made is Mike McQueen with 231 from 1990-93.
- The Falcons had 13 players find their way into the scoring column.
- Concordia Wisconsin held a 40-16 difference in paint scoring.
- Hobb's four blocks is tied for the ninth-most in a game in program history.
- The Falcons 59 rebounds is tied for the second-most in a game in program history, while their 26 assists are tied for the fourth most.
- Concordia Chicago's starting five combined to shoot 14-of-57 (24.6 percent) and were 4-of-18 from downtown.

THE OPPOSITION
- Kyle Hoffman led the Cougars with a 22-point performance off the bench, which included six 3-pointers, to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, four blocks and a steal.
- Jarek Hotwagner tallied 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals in 34 minutes of work.
