Football drops first game of the season

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Concordia Wisconsin fell behind 21-3 in the second half and fought back until the final drive with less than two minutes left in the game, but couldn't secure a come-from-behind victory as Trine won 21-16 at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin obtained the ball via a punt with one minute and 50 seconds remaining on the clock and 70 yards to go. However, Trine's defense was tough and recorded three sacks to secure the victory.
- The Falcons fell behind 21-3 after Trine had rushing touchdowns on three possessions covering the second and third quarter. Sophomore Gabe Christenson (Kewaskum, Wis.) picked up a blocked punt by Eli Wallace (Davenport, Iowa) in the end zone to score a touchdown with 35 seconds to play in the third quarter.
- Sophomore Tanner Hill (Phoenix, Ariz.) hauled in a six-yard pass from sophomore James Linn (Chino Hills, Calif.) for a score with 4:39 to go in the game.
- Linn ended 12-of-23 for 178 yards, while Hill had three catches for 55 yards and the score.
- Defensively, Christenson led the team with eight tackles, while junior Dwayne Rackard III (Orlando, Fla.) had six tackles and a sack.
- Sophomore Nick Penge (Salem, Wis.) punted seven times for an average of 42.6 yards and boomed a 60 yarder.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin will have a week off before returning to NACC action the rest of the way on October 5 against Benedictine at 1 pm.
