Montgomery rushes for 3 TDs in road victory

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Matt Montgomery knew his counterpart for Concordia Chicago was one of the best in NACC history, but he made a statement on Saturday afternoon rushing for 203 yards and three touchdowns to lead Concordia Wisconsin to a 34-15 road victory.

THE BASICS
Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 34, Concordia Chicago 15
Location: Concordia Stadium (River Forest, Ill.)
Records: Concordia Wisconsin 3-4, 1-3 NACC; Concordia Chicago 4-3, 2-2 NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Matt Montgomery had a career game with his 203 yards and three touchdowns, which came on 31 carries for a 6.5-yard average. Entering the game he had 294 yards through six games, but found holes in the Concordia Chicago defense all game long with the help of crisp blocking by the Falcons offensive line.
- His counterpart at Concordia Chicago - Lance Moise - who has over 4,000 career rushing yards and 40-plus touchdowns performed at his usual pace with 156 yards and two touchdowns. However, Concordia Wisconsin clamped down the passing attack and held the Cougars to 110 yards through the air.
- After the Cougars put nine points on the board in the opening quarter, the Falcons responded with 20 points in a row. Sophomore James Linn (Chino Hills, Calif.) ran for a 21-yard score before Montgomery found the end zone from 15 yards out. The score continued when junior Troy Stewart (Trevor, Wis.) picked off a pass and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown.
- Concordia Chicago got to within five points, 20-15, in the fourth after a Moise rushing touchdown but it didn't last long. On the next possession and 39 seconds later Montgomery plowed in for a 1-yard score following a 50-yard scamper. He then scored again on the ensuing possession for 20 yards for a three-score game.
- Junior Connor Stoming (Germantown, Wis.) led all players with 14 tackles (11 solo), while Stewart had two sacks.
