McDermit named NACC Defensive Player of the Week
MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin's Josiah McDermit was named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced.
McDermit, a sophomore defensive back from Kansasville, Wisconsin, intercepted a pair of Gavin Zimbelman passes in the Falcons' 24-7 loss to Aurora. One of the picks came near the goal line, preventing Zimbelman - who leads Division III with 33 touchdown passes - from tying the NACC single-season record. McDermit also posted three assisted tackles.
The conference weekly honor is the first of the season and second of his career.
