Women's Track & Field competes at UW-Platteville meet

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team continued its indoor season Saturday by competing at a meet hosted by UW-Platteville. It was another strong day for the Falcons as several athletes turned in personal-best efforts.

Senior Andrea Kassees (Waukesha, Wis.) continued her strong season in the throwing events, setting a new personal record in the weight throw. Kassees placed fourth in the event, recording a mark of 14.78 meters, which now ranks her second in the NACC. Also in the throwing events, sophomore Delaney Verba (Milwaukee, Wis.) set a new PR with a toss of 10.63 meters, which ranks eighth in the conference. Freshman Beth Garncarz (Milwaukee, Wis.) added a PR in the shot put at 10.32 meters.

The Falcons gained strong performances in the 3,000-meter run from Marya Haegler (West Bend, Wis.) and Ashley Scheele (Kohler, Wis.). Haeger ran a 10:33.56, winning the event with her PR. She now ranks second in the NACC this season, while Scheele ranks fifth after running a PR time of 10:58.99. Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.) and Jessica Rice (Canton, Mich.) also posted PRs in the 3,000 with times of 11:13.45 and 11:15.16, respectively.

A couple freshman impressed in the pole vault as McKenna Daulton (Hudson, Wis.) and Alisa Dorothy (Waukesha, Wis.) now rank third and seventh in the NACC, respectively. Daulton cleared 3.11 meters, while Dorothy turned in a personal-best effort, clearing 2.51 meters. Dorothy also had a PR in the 200-meter dash Saturday. Also turning in PRs in the 200 were Mary Heinz (Clintonville, Wis.), Moira Kilgas (Omro, Wis.) and Tatiana March (Janesville, Wis.).

Another runner turning in a PR was freshman Lauren Erickson (Naperville, Wis.), just one of her two personal-best efforts on the day. Erickson also ran an 8.21 in the 60-meter dash and ranks fifth in the conference in that event. She ranks ninth in the NACC in the 200 with her time of 27.62. Colleen Sauvey (De Pere, Wis.) added a PR in the 60-meter dash, running an 8.76, while Marissa Krohn (Brookfield, Wis.) posted a PR in the 60-meter high hurdles, posting an 11.24.

The Falcons will be back in action Friday when they compete at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Tune-Up meet. Action is set to get underway at 4 p.m.
