Women's Track & Field opens outdoor season at Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team began its outdoor season this past weekend at the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis. The Falcons had several strong performances to begin the weekend, while competing against several higher division programs at the meet.

In the throwing events, a few Falcons set new PRs in their first time outdoors this season. Junior Karli Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis.) posted a couple PRs by landing distances of 38.44 meters in the hammer throw and 26.86 meters in the discus. Freshman Beth Garncarz (Milwaukee, Wis.) posted a PR in each throwing event, posting 10.64 meters in the shot put, 30.67 in the discus and 31.29 in the hammer throw. Rounding out the Falcons throwing PRs was sophomore Delaney Verba (Milwaukee, Wis.) who tossed 31.00 meters in the hammer throw, while sophomore Nicole Gloede (Bonduel, Wis.) added a new PR in the discus (29.16).

The 800-meter run saw a trio of freshman post PRs in the outdoor opener. Cassandra Sprotte (Abbotsford, Wis.) led the way with a 2:27.72, while Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.) clocked in at 2:28.28. Also running a personal-best time was Emily Ward (Burlington, Wis.) who posted a 2:41.52.

Three Falcons ran a new best time in the mile, two being freshmen in Martha Kulberg (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Nora Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.). Kulberg came in at 5:59.20, while Imperl was just behind at 6:00.40. Adding a PR in the mile was Hannah Erl (Wauwatosa, Wis.) at 6:21.95, while she also ran a new best time in the 5K at 21:08.82.

Two other Falcons set PRs over the weekend in freshmen Moira Kilgas (Omro, Wis.) and Alisa Dorothy (Waukesha, Wis.). Kilgas ran the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.66, while Dorothy posted a mark of 3.99 meters in the long jump.

CUW will be back in action next Saturday at the Carroll University Invite. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
