Kassees sets school record for Women's Track & Field at Augustana Meet

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Senior Andrea Kassees broke her own school record in the hammer throw, and also had an impressive performance in the discus to pace the Women's Track & Field team at the Augustana Invite Friday.

Kassees (Waukesha, Wis.) tosses a 43.62 in the hammer throw to break her own school record, which she set earlier this season. She wasn't done there however as the senior posted a 39.41 in the discus, which ranks first in the NACC this season.

She wasn't the only Falcon to have performances that rank in the NACC as freshman McKenna Daulton (Hudson, Wis.) ranks in the top five in the conference in a pair of events after the weekend. Daulton had a PR in the javelin by tossing 29.90 meters, which is fifth in the conference and also had an impressive showing in the pole vault, clearing 3.05 meters, the second best in the league this season.

Senior Emily Mauermann (Janesville, Wis.) posted a 59.90 in the 400-meter dash, which ranks third in the NACC in another impressive showing for the Falcons. Colleen Sauvey (De Pere, Wis.) now ranks fourth in the NACC in the hammer throw after posting a four-meter PR with a distance of 40.86 meters.

CUW had several other PRs on Friday, including three in the 1,500-meter run. Leading the way for that group was Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.) as she ran a 5:09.63, while Martha Kulberg (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Nora Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.) posted times of 5:28.83 and 5:39.05, respectively. The Falcons also had two PRs in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in Larissa Schiltz (13:33.37) and Hannah Erl (13.48.95). Tatiana March (Janesville, Wis.) and Mary Heinz (Clintonville, Wis.) added PRs in the 100, while Briana Gratz (Fairmont, Minn.) posted a new personal-best time in the 400 on Friday.

March also had a PR in the javelin throw, tossing 25.51 meters, while Beth Garncarz (Milwaukee, Wis.) posted two PRs in throwing events. Garncarz tossed 11.02 meters in the shot put and added a PR of 33.10 meters in the hammer throw for the Falcons.

CUW will be back in action next weekend at the Wisconsin Private College Championships. The meet, hosted by St. Norbert College, is set for a 10:30 a.m. start on Saturday, April 25.
