Women's Track & Field competes at Pointer Invite

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team placed fourth at the Pointer Invite this weekend, held Saturday at UW-Stevens Point.

The Falcons 5,000-meter team had three runners finish in the top five, including a second-place finish from Marya Haegler (West Bend, Wis.) who ran an 18:44.52. Her time now ranks fourth in the NACC, while Ashley Scheele (Kohler, Wis.) came in next with a PR time of 18:58.64, ranking fifth in the NACC. Senior Sarah Volkert (Rockford, Ill.) also competed in the 5,000 and placed fifth with a time of 20:42.46.

In the 800-meter run the Falcons were paced by freshman Paulina Agnello (Brookfield, Wis.) as she ran a PR time of 2:30.32, which ranks her eighth in the NACC. Another freshman, Cassandra Sprotte (Abbotsford, Wis.) ran a PR of 2:31.60, which now ranks her ninth in the conference in the event. Freshman Nora Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.) also posted a PR in the 800 with a time of 2:33.11. Larissa Schlitz (DeForest, Wis.) posted a PR in the 3K with a time of 11:14.12.

Senior Emily Mauermann (Janesville, Wis.) moved into fifth in the NACC rankings in the 400-meter run after her 1:02.49 in the 400-meter dash Saturday. Freshman Moira Kilgas (Omro, Wis.) now ranks eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.38.

In the throwing events the Falcons had a few PRs, which included a mark of 11.41 meters in the shot put from junior Karli Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis.). Tatum now ranks fourth in the NACC in the event. Freshman Beth Garncarz (Milwaukee, Wis.) and sophomore Nicole Gloede (Bonduel, Wis.) each posted new personal-bests in the weight throw with tosses of 9.96 and 9.94 meters, respectively. Sophomore Delaney Verba (Milwaukee, Wis.) added a PR in the shot put, throwing 10 meters with ranks eighth in the NACC.

CUW will be back in action next Saturday at the UW-Platteville Invitational, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The Falcons have two meets to go before the NACC Indoor Championships, scheduled for Saturday, February 28.
