Throwers lead way for Women's Track & Field at Benedictine meet

LISLE, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team competed at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational Saturday.

The Falcons throwers once again paced the team with several PRs during the day. Leading the way in that aspect was Karli Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis.) who notched a pair of personal-best marks. Tatum tossed 12.13 meters in the shot put, which was not only her personal-best mark, but also ranks second in the NACC at this point in the season. She added a PR in the hammer throw, recording 38.45 meters.

Delaney Verba (Milwaukee, Wis.) also had a couple of PRs on Saturday, both in the discus and hammer throws. Verba had a two-meter PR in the discus throw, by tossing 31.35 meters and added a 31.88 meters toss in the hammer throw. Colleen Sauvey (De Pere, Wis.) added an impressive four-meter PR in the hammer throw, recording 36.12 meters.

The Falcons also had three athletes post a new personal-best in the javelin throw at the meet. The top mark of that trio belonged to McKenna Daulton (Hudson, Wis.) as she landed a throw of 28.01 meters. Adding PRs in the event was Kailey Koehler (Lake Geneva, Wis.) and Tatiana March (Janesville, Wis.) with marks of 22.69 and 21.73, respectively.

On the track, three Falcons brought home career-best times, including Briana Gratz (Fairmont, Minn.), who posted a PR in both the 200 and 400-meter dashes. Gratz ran a 2.5 second PR in the 400 with a time of 1:05.94, while adding a 27.91 in the 200.

Adding personal-best times on Saturday was both Nora Imperl (Greenfield, Wis.) and Moira Kilgas (Omro, Wis.). Imperl clocked in at 21:27.88 in the 5,000-meter run, while Kilgas took part in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a 1:09.00.

The Falcons will return to action next weekend in a meet hosted by Augustana College on Saturday morning.
