CUW Duo Competes at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Senior Kaitlynn Sabish (Campbellsport, Wis.) and sophomore Elizabeth Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) traveled south on Friday to compete in the first half of the heptathlon on Friday at the Augustana Meet of Champions competition. 

On the day, Van Rixel finished with 1,258 points, while Sabish collected 711. 

In the 100-meter hurdles, Elizabeth Van Rixel posted a time of 19.45 seconds, while Kaitlynn Sabish was right behind her, posting a time of 21.58 for 19th and 21st place, respectively. With their times, Van Rixel earned 349 points, while Sabish gained 184 points.

Then, in the shot put, Van Rixel threw a 9.16-meter mark, which earned her 475 points and sixth place amongst her fellow decathletes. Meanwhile, Sabish recorded a distance of 6.03 meters for 273 points.  

Finally, in the 200-meter race, Elizabeth Van Rixel recorded a time of 30.70 seconds, while Kaitlynn Sabish had 33.73.

Sabish and Van Rixel will continue to compete in Augustana tomorrow. At the same time, the other Falcons on the CUW women's track and field team will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran College to compete in the Green and White Invite from Raabe Stadium, slated to start at 10:00 a.m.
