Crook wins 400th career game as Softball splits with Warriors

MEQUON, Wis. – Head Coach Steve Crook won his 400th career game as the Concordia University Wisconsin Softball team split a doubleheader with Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons gave Crook his 400th win in game one, a 4-0 victory, before falling, 4-1, in the nightcap.

CUW 4, WLC 0
- Molly O'Connell (New London, Wis.) had it going for the Falcons in game one as the sophomore right-hander delivered a complete game shutout. She ran into a little trouble in the first inning as the Warriors put a runner on third with one out, but from that point forward O'Connell was lights out in her seventh win of the season. She allowed just four hits and struck out one.

- Jenna Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) had the big hit in the game one win, a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning. O'Connell helped her cause in the fourth, delivering an RBI double which plated Kalli Roulette (Manitowoc, Wis.).

- CUW finished game one with five hits as Jamie Reiser (Ingleside, Ill.), Roulette, and Emma Schimberg (Random Lake, Wis.) all had singles in the victory.

WLC 4, CUW 1
- Game two saw the Warriors score three times in the top of the seventh, breaking a 1-1 tie for the 4-1 final. Abby Mahsem, who threw all but one inning and a total of 206 pitches over two games, got the win in game two with a complete-game effort. She struck out seven and allowed four hits while walking six.

- Nicole Lewis (Manhattan, Ill.) threw well for the Falcons, but run into trouble in the sixth when the Warriors plated three runs. Lewis went 6.1 innings and struck out a pair. Pozezinski came on for the final two outs, striking out one.

- The Falcons run came in the third as Reiser walked with the bases loaded bringing in O'Connell. The RBI walk tied the game at one as the Warriors scored in the top of the second before winning the game with three in the seventh.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Crook is in his 19th season as the Falcons head coach and has won an average of just over 21 games per year since taking over. He is the winningest coach in program history.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will have Thursday off before visiting Edgewood for two NACC games Friday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
