Lake Forest downs Men's Tennis in non-conference action

LAKE BLUFF, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Tennis team dropped its third straight non-conference match Friday night, falling against Lake Forest College by an 8-1 score.

The Falcons lone win of the night came at No. 2 doubles where the team of senior Steven Fritz (Berwyn, Ill.) and freshman Ceejay Schaffner (Winona, Minn.) battled to a 9-8 (7-4) victory.

The other two doubles matches were also close battles, as Lake Forest was able to gain 8-6 victories at the No. 1 and 3 positions, building a 2-1 lead before singles play.

In singles action the Foresters won five of six matches by straight sets, with No. 3 singles going to a tiebreaker. In the No. 3 match, senior Benjamin Nommensen (Waupaca, Wis.) fell 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-2).

The Falcons will return to action next Friday when they host Adrian College. CUW and the Bulldogs will square off at 6:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club in Jackson.
