St. Norbert drops Men's Tennis in non-conference play

GLENDALE, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Tennis team dropped a non-conference matchup against St. Norbert College Friday night at the Paley Tennis Center.

The Falcons picked up one win each in doubles and singles play on Friday. After doubles, CUW trailed 2-1, earning a victory at No. 3. The duo of sophomore Trevor Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and freshman Nick Gold (Waukesha, Wis.) netted an 8-6 win for the Falcons over Robert Quinlan and Kahlo Vue of St. Norbert.

The lone singles win for CUW came at No. 3 as freshman Ceejay Schaffner (Winona, Minn.) picked up a 7-5, 6-4 victory. Schaffner is now 2-0 in singles play through the first two weeks of his Falcons career.

St. Norbert gained wins everywhere else Friday night, including a tiebreak victory at No. 4 singles as senior Steven Fritz (Berwyn, Ill.) was edged by Casey Brice of the Green Knights. The other singles wins came in straight sets for SNC.

The Falcons will once again host a non-conference matchup next Friday, taking on Lawrence University. The match between CUW and Lawrence is set for 6 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club.
