Three from Women's Soccer collect All-Region honors

KANSAS CITY – In what has become somewhat of an annual tradition, the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team was once again well-represented on the All-Central Region Teams in 2015, as the NSCAA announced its honors Thursday.

For the second straight year the Falcons placed three players on the All-Region teams, all three of those earning Second Team honors. Seniors Carley Pfannerstill and Emily Ciesielczyk, along with junior Faith Palmreuter were all named to the NSCAA All-Central Region Second Team for their efforts during the 2015 season.

Pfannerstill (Grafton, Wis.) becomes the second player in CUW Women's Soccer history to earn three All-Region selections, joining Ashley Apazeller (2011, 2012, 2014). Pfannerstill was a First Team All-Region honoree last season, the program's first-ever, as well as a Third Team selection in 2013.

She had her best season statistically this fall, scoring a career-best 18 goals and tying for a career-best nine assists. In addition, Pfannerstill finished with 45 points, bringing her four-year career total to 145, the most of any player during the Ryan Middendorf (2003-present) era. The senior forward was also a First Team All-NACC selection for the third straight season in addition to being named to the Second Team her freshman season.

Ciesielcyzk (Waukesha, Wis.) wraps up her impressive career with her first All-Region nod. The senior was one of the top midfielders in the NACC, finishing the year with five goals and four assists. One of the Falcons captains, along with Pfannerstill and senior Jaclyn Theune (Oostburg, Wis.), Ciesielczyk finished her career with 82 points.

She totaled 38 assists during her four years with the Falcons, which was the most under Middendorf. Ciesielczyk was also a two-time First Team All-NACC selection, while being named to the Second Team her other two seasons.

Palmreuter (Frankenmuth, Mich.) was the leader of a Falcons defense that dominated the NACC during the regular season. The 2015 NACC Defensive Player of the Year, Palmreuter helped anchor a defense that gave up just 15 goals in 19 matches this season.

The Falcons defense shut out their opponents nine times in 2015 and gave up one goal or few in 16 of 19 matches. CUW was even more dominant during the NACC portion of its schedule, allowing just two goals in 10 regular season conference matches.

The Falcons won the NACC Regular Season title in 2015 with a perfect 10-0-0 league record. They finished the season 14-2-3 for what was one of the better seasons in CUW Women's Soccer program history.
