
Wrestling Competes at NCAA Regionals
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Concordia Wisconsin wrestling team closed the 2024-25 season on Friday at the NCAA Division III Region VII Regionals. The Falcons finished in 15th place with 5.5 points.
At 133 pounds, freshman Anastacio Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) started the day falling by a 0-7 decision against Travis Moelter of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Martinez responded with a fall over Joseph-Rodney Troyer of Pacific. Kia Anderson of Concordia Moorhead then posted a fall at 1:08 in the consolation bracket.
Sophomore Christopher Khaosanga (Jackson, Wis.) represented CUW in the 141-pound bracket. Finn Bloomquist had a fall at 1:28 and Lucas Schanen of Lakeland had a fall at 4:19.
Junior Frank Budederi (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) fought in the 149-pound bracket on Friday. Jesse Berg posted a fall to start the day at 3:41. Ashton Massaro of Aurora won by fall at 6:46.
At 157 pounds, sophomore Mason Markham (Elkhorn, Wis.) finished 0-2 with a fall against Augsburg's Karsen Otis at 1:32 and a technical fall against Austin Abitua of Aurora at 18-3.
Junior Dawson Galvan (Chula Vista, Calif.) went 0-2 at 184 pounds on Friday. Gavin Graham of MSOE won by fall at 2:52, and Sage Adie of Pacific won by technical fall by 18-3.
Junior Ruben Vasquez Westminster, Mo.) picked up a victory at 197 pounds for the Falcons. Parker Venz of Augsburg started the day with a 16-1 technical fall. Vasquez bounced back with a 4-1 decision over Jake Schmitt of MSOE. D.J. Myles finished the day with an 18-8 major decision.
Freshman KeiKei Evans (San Antonio, Texas) also earned a victory at 285 pounds. Garrett Olbrich had a 13-3 major decision in the opening round. Evens evened the day with a fall over Colin Duren at 2:17. Mason Kochersperger of Carthage claimed a 2-0 decision to day the event for Evans.
The Falcons will be back in action in the fall of 2025.
