CUW Competes at MSOE Invite

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin wrestling team traveled to the MSOE Invite Saturday morning. As a team, the Falcons scored 16.5 points and took 10th place.

Sophomore Christopher Khaosanga (Jackson, Wis.) was competitive but could not record a victory in the 133-bracket.

In the 149 weight tournament, junior Frank Budederi (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) went 1-2 on the day and scored 0.5 points. In the first round of the consolation bracket, Budederi would secure the slim 17-14 decision victory over Bryant & Stratton's Ian O'Connor. However, his day would end in the following round.

Also in the 149 weight class was sophomore Mason Markham (Elkhorn, Wis.). Although he was competitive, he could not score any points, falling in both of his bouts.

Senior TJ Mackey (Joliet, Ill.) scored a team-high 11 points in the 174 class as he took down Eureka's Tyren Moore by fall at the 3:38 mark after receiving a bye in the first round. Mackey's day, however, ended in the semifinal and the third-place match.

Meanwhile, junior Dawson Galvan (Chula Vista, Calif.) went 0-2 on the day as he suffered two defeats in competitive matchups.

Finally, freshman KeiKei Evans (San Antonio, Texas) would earn five points for the Blue and White in the heavyweight division. After a defeat in the championship bracket, Evans bounced back in the first round of the consolation as he secured a fall victory over UW-Oshkosh's Brodie Diressen at 1:36 in the first period. Evans would carry this momentum into his second bound as he recorded another fall victory at the 4:31 mark over Isaac Coleman of Eureka. However, Evans would fall to Camden Harms in the consolation bracket championship.

The Falcons will look ahead to the North Central Invite slated for next weekend.
