KENOSHA, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin wrestling team took to the mat Saturday afternoon for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Duals, where they faced off against Illinois Wesleyan, Millikin, and Augustana. Despite strong individual performances, the Falcons fell in all three duals, bringing their overall record to 3-8.
The Falcons first squared off against Illinois Wesleyan, suffering a 12-43 defeat. CUW earned its points on two forfeits, but struggled to score in the remaining bouts, unable to register victories in the other seven matches.
In the second match of the day, the Falcons faced Millikin, where Ruben Vasquez (Westminster, Calif.) earned the lone victory for CUW. Vasquez defeated Tate Crowell of Millikin by decision, 13-4, securing a key win for the Falcons.
The third and final dual of the day saw CUW go up against Augustana. Freshman Anastacio Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) earned a dominant victory in the 133-pound weight class, defeating Khadyn Jacobs by major decision, 15-2. KeiKei Evans (San Antonio, Texas) followed up with another victory for the Falcons, also by major decision, in the 285-pound match, winning 13-4.
