Raiders Take Down Falcons

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin wrestling team faced a tough loss to the MSOE Raiders, 0-53, in their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) dual, dropping their record to 1-2 in the conference.

The night began with the Raiders taking a 6-0 lead after the first bout. In the 133-pound weight class, freshman Anastacio Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) showed great determination, battling hard against MSOE's Liam Anderson before ultimately falling by technical fall, 2-19. Sophomore Christopher Khaosanga (Jackson, Wis.) also fought valiantly but was defeated by fall in the 141-pound class, as MSOE extended their lead to 17-0.

At 149 pounds, Mason Markham (Elkhorn, Wis.) wrestled well but was pinned, allowing the Raiders to pull ahead 23-0. Junior Frank Budederi (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and sophomore Ethan Onan (Beach Park, Ill.) also gave their best efforts in the 157- and 165-pound matches, but both suffered losses by fall as MSOE widened their advantage.

Despite the challenges, senior TJ Mackey (Joliet, Ill.) and junior Dawson Galvan (Chula Vista, Calif.) fought with great resilience in their bouts, with Mackey falling by fall and Galvan losing by technical fall, 3-19, bringing the score to 46-0 in favor of MSOE.

Junior Ruben Vasquez (Westminster, Calif.) continued to battle hard but was ultimately defeated by a major decision in his match, 1-10. Freshman KeiKei Evans (San Antonio, Texas) closed out the night with a loss by decision, 3-10, in the heavyweight division, giving the Raiders the 53-0 victory.

The Falcons will now look ahead to a well-deserved rest before returning to action at the 30th annual CUW Open on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. in the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse.
